Acne scar home remedies can be used to treat acne scars before you are able to find time and the money to go to the doctor for an acne scar treatment. Even if you don’t pick at your pimples, acne scarring may still occur when the spots become inflamed or don’t heal properly.
The extent of acne scarring depends on hereditary factors and skin tone. However, you can reduce the extent of scarring by using acne scar home remedies that work. Here are some acne scar homemade treatments which you can prepare in the comfort of your home, to complement the acne scar removal treatment which your dermatologist or beauty therapist provides.
This is an ideal face pack for oily or combination skin and is effective in treating acne. The mask removes excess oil and leaves your skin with a pleasant fragrance. The mask can also be directly applied on the scarred area. The sandalwood provides a soothing and cooling effect on your skin.
To prepare this mask, you will need
• two table spoons of sandalwood powder
• rose water
• a bowl
Add rosewater to the sandalwood powder in the bowl. Mix thoroughly to get rid of any lumps. Wash your hands and clean your face with water. Apply this paste evenly and very gently on the face avoiding the area around the eyes. Make sure that your mask never gets into your eyes, because sandalwood stings. You can keep two cotton pads soaked in rose water on your eyes to relax your eyes. Alternatively, you may substitute the rosewater-soaked cotton pads with two thin slices of cucumber to soothe your eyes.
Leave your mask on for 15-20 minutes, or overnight if you wish. Rinse with cool water. Gently pat your face dry with a clean towel.
This acne scar home remedy will clean and firm up your skin in 15 minutes. It also reduces redness and inflammation. Chances are you will find that you will have fewer breakouts after using this acne scar home remedy.
Break an egg and separate out the yolk. You can use the yolk afterwards to condition your hair. Whisk the egg white gently. Tie your hair back from your face. As in the earlier acne scar homemade mask, wash your hands and clean your face thoroughly.
Pat the egg white on your face, avoiding the eye area and your mouth. Let it dry for about ten minutes. Your face will start to feel taut. Rinse off with lukewarm water. You may follow up by applying your face with fresh aloe vera juice, followed by a moisturizer. Aloe vera helps to heal scars and wounds.
You may also wish to cut the gel from the aloe vera leaf and mix it with honey and lemon and eat it as a dessert. Together with a clean diet, this helps your body to detox and reduce acne outbreaks.
Apply lemon juice directly on your acne scars using a cotton ball. Let your skin soak up the lemon juice for a while before washing it off with lukewarm water. Lemon juice lightens your acne scars and blemishes and improves your appearance. However, do not expose your skin to direct sunlight with the lemon juice on.
Lemon juice increases the photosensitivity of your skin. Exposure to sunlight may bring on more dark spots and discoloration. Lemon juice dries up the skin as well, therefore do not use this homemade acne scar treatment more than three times a week. Always follow with moisturizer and a high SPF sunscreen.
